Being a Stay-at-home Mom is a job on its own, and so, attention must be paid to excel at it. While some women may want to go fully into their career pursuits, and some others desire to be stay-at-home moms, none is inferior to the other; as both are fully engaged in different endeavors of life.

Being a stay-at-home mom can be very exhausting and time-consuming, and to be productive at it, one must be motivated and be at her optimal level of performance. Staying motivated helps with carrying out the important tasks in the house, as well as creating time for personal activities and hobbies.

Below are some ways to be productive as a Stay-at-home Mom

  1. Plan your day ahead, the previous day

To be productive as a stay-at-home mom, it is very important to always plan your day ahead, the previous day. If you would be going out, you could plan your outfit, plan your tasks for the following day, and when you would do them. This may seem little, but it goes a long way in helping you stay organized and efficient.

2. Write down your tasks

Another important thing to do is to write down your tasks, in order to keep them before your eyes. Writing down your tasks ahead of time gives you a clear, and precise idea of what you have to do, and when you have to do it. It also helps you to prioritize each task, in order of importance or urgency, as you deem fit. This helps you to tick off each activity when you do them and prevents you from forgetting important things to be done, like going to see your child’s teacher, etc.

3. Wake up before the kids

Waking up 1 hour or 30 minutes earlier than your children can make a whole lot of difference in your da. This is because the way you start your day would set the tone for how the entire day would go, except you are intentional about turning things around. You get to do some personal things, such as praying, reading, getting dressed, preparing their lunch packs for school, and being in control of yourself, before they come with their needs to be met. To achieve this, sleep early and set an alarm to wake you up at your preferred time.

4. Dress up for each day

Staying in your pajamas wouldn’t help your productivity level, as it gives you a feeling that you can just lounge all day long. However, cleaning up and getting dressed like you’re going out would signal to your brain that you are set for the day, and ready to take on all that it throws at you.

5. Don’t get stuck on Social Media

Social Media can take away all your time before you realize it. The desire to check a single post on your Facebook timeline could lead to scrolling for hours endlessly and wasting time that could be used to achieve other important tasks. To mitigate this, you could uninstall the social media applications that get you engrossed, and focus on other important things.

6. Do your chores in batches

Allowing house chores to pile up is the greatest enemy of your productivity as a stay-at-home mom. Don’t let the dishes or laundry pile up, rather, do them as they come. You could decide to wash plates, as you use them, wash clothes every day, or almost every day as it would be convenient for you.

7. Ask for help when needed

Dear Stay-at-home Mom, you are not a robot. You need help and there is nothing wrong is seeking an extra hand, when needed. Delegate tasks that can be delegated such as taking the laundry out to be done by someone, etc.

8. Start a side hustle or take online jobs

As a stay-at-home mom, you could free up little time to do online remote jobs in order to earn some income on the side to support your home finance. While you do not have to open a big business, you could do freelance writing, blogging, teaching students online, etc, to earn some money. This would also help you buy that shoe or dress you have your eyes on, giving you a sense of fulfillment and joy.
